It's GOLD again!
We are delighted to say that this year we were involved with the Linklater garden for Maggies at the Chelsea Flower Show which was the very proud recipient of a GOLD medal.
SPP worked for Cornish designer, Darren Hawkes, to create one of this year's most talked about gardens - a hidden gem where the public could actually enter and view the garden by means of a raised platform - something that has never before been done at Chelsea.
Maggie's Centres offer free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends. Darren's design inspiration stemmed from the knowledge that cancer blows people's lives apart, so concrete was used to create shattered edges to buildings and benches. The black basalt concrete was used in six different ways - polished (dry polished and wet polished), polished and etched, etched, broken edged and crushed into gravel.
A water feature, cast in black basalt concrete with the top face wet polished, provided a peaceful haven with beautiful planting.
Steps with broken edges and polished and etched treads with polished handrails led up to the viewing platform.
